Jollibee is a fast food chain in the Philippines, similar to McDonald's. Besides selling the typical fare, they also sell spaghetti and peach mango pie.

This a branch in Daly City, where thousands of Filipinos live. Don't know why they chose a bug to represent their food business.

College Ave at Berkeley. I wanted to go to Jeremy's but it must've been closed because no one was picking up when I called. I did score a cute vintage purse at Crossroads Trading so all was not lost. Berkeley is a cool college town known mostly due to the University of California at Berkeley school and for being the home of beatniks back in the 60's.

Fillmore St

Fillmore St

Lots of little neat shops in this street. Right along Japantown so you can just walk around. I really like this section of the town, it's almost like the Haight but less touristy and a bit cleaner. Not a lot of 60's nostalgia except for the Fillmore theatre which hosted a lot of live music acts and still does.

Going to Clement St

Going to Clement St
Originally uploaded by orangemess.
The M Oceanview MUNI train station, behind it is San Francisco State U. The MUNI train only runs local within the city but the BART runs within the Bay Area region (Oakland, South SF, etc). We're on our way to Clement St by way of 28 bus. Clement St is another sub-Chinatown, not as touristy but more hardcore. Tons of fresh meats and fruit markets and authentic Chinese eateries and pastry shops. We're on the hunt for the wireless store we saw during our last visit that had tons of cool unusual phones.

We are taking a breather at the park next to Sony Metreon at 4th and Mission. I used to work a block away from here at Folsom. The SFMOMA, which is an excellent modern art museum, is also a stone's throw away from here. Outdoor concerts are also held in this park, saw Travis couple of years ago during a free gig.

Looking over the menu at Hana Zen on Ellis close to Mason. Seaweed salad ($4.50) and Kamikaze roll ($7.50) sounds good. We were looking for our old hangout Kantaro restaurant in Powell but it's spot was taken over by the infamous fcuk store.

We're on the BART train to downtown. I like how everything here works like clockwork. got out of the house by 10:25am, on to the bus by 10:30, and after 15minutes later we were at the train station, where the train just pulled in as we were going down the escalator. There was not a minute wasted. the bus fare went up to $1.50 from a $1.25 just yesterday due to the gas price hike. But at the train station we were able to purchase multiple tickets through the atm machine which I'm quite happy about.

Coming back home, it's so nice to see things familiar and strange at the same time.

Gotta cut this short, next stop is Montgomery station. Btw today's forecast is a nice cool 69 and sunny
